Joelle Van Autreve studied three-dimensional art at Kask in Ghent, mainly concentrating on sculpture and video in her last year.

After school, she travelled  through Asia, following a mysterious woman of whom she made a documentary.  In 2009, Joëlle started working as a professional photographer. 

Joelle Van Autreve is a photographer of emotions: her main subjects are women in all their beauty, their sexuality, their fragility, in their ruptures and their flaws.  She takes portraits whose formalism are never cold. The result is a touching sensitivity.
